Health and Safety Professional
Ferreira Construction a leading heavy civil construction company, has an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety Professional based in Connecticut and surrounding area.
This position is a key management role, with requirements for hands-on field participation. Applicant must be familiar with OSHA 1926, OSHA 1910, and DOT regulations. Strong knowledge of OSHA and applicable state, local safety regulations. A Heavy civil back ground is preferred
Roles and Responsibilities include the following:
Administering our safety program;
Building presentations and providing training.
Conducting site audits
Possess the ability to coach, mentor, lead and influence construction crews and Project Team members.
Proven track record of conducting comprehensive site safety audits
CHST Certification is required
Able to coordinate with operations personnel to enforce Health and safety work procedures, rules and regulations as they pertain to specific areas of operation.
Perform Pre -task planning AHA, JHA process
The ability to critically assess and evaluate hazards and communicate corrective actions in a timely manner.
Perform injury and incident, auto, property damage and theft investigations.
Able to perform root cause analysis - lessons learned
Provide continued education to the workers on safe working practices
Able to work independently and be participate as part of a team.
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, osha requirements and procedure manuals.
Computer knowledge must Microsoft excel, word and outlook
Proficiency in written and verbal business communications skills
Education / Experience
Minimum 1-3 years’ safety experience in Heavy civil construction.
OSHA 500, 510 preferred
OSHA 30 hour required
B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health, or related discipline.
5 years of safety and health experience in heavy/civil construction
STSC, ASP OR CSP a plus
